Giulia Del Brenna has worked as an Administrator in the European Commission since April 1996 in a number of positions.

She has followed developments in European Pharmaceutical Policy since being appointed Assistant to the Director-General in May 2005. She has been appointed Head of the Unit "Competitiveness in the Pharmaceuticals industry and Biotechnology" in October 2008. Since then, she has been in charge of the dialogue with the Pharmaceuticals and Biotech industry as well as the cooperation among Pricing and Reimbursement authorities in the European Union.

Her unit is currently organising the next dialogue on Pharmaceuticals (Members States, Industry and relevant stakeholders - follow-up of the Pharma Forum http://ec.europa.eu/pharmaforum/) and exploring options to increase access to finance for small and medium biotech companies.
