Graphic element European Conference on Measurements and Testing

A conference entitled 'Environment, health, safety. Challenge for measurements' will take place at UNESCO in Paris on June 14 and 15, 2001. The event is being organised by INERIS (Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques) in partnership with the European Commission's Research Directorate-General and BNM/LNE (Bureau National de Métrologie/Laboratoire National d'Essais), with the support of ENERO (European Network of Environment Research Organisations) and CEN (European Committee for Standardization).

Advances in measurements and testing technologies have been of critical importance and measurement sciences have contributed significantly to public awareness in a wide variety of areas. The conference will include four half-day sessions and will focus on:

  • Environment - quality assessment and detection of trace elements in water, air and topsoil;
  • Health - regulations, standards, certification, and expertise based decision processes;
  • Safety - facilitating the emergence of improved policy instruments, including safety aspects.

A poster exhibition and an awards presentation will also be featured.
