"Le Bourget" is the place where the
media can discover the world's leading aeronautics technologies. The renowned
Paris Air show has also been selected to be the first meeting point of
a new Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe (ACARE).
Journalists covering aeronautics and/or research issues are invited to
the opening session of the Council's first gathering, where they will
be able to talk with senior staff from the European Commission as well
as members of the newly established Advisory Council.

Background |
| |
During this year's Aeronautics Days in Hamburg,
EU Commissioner Philippe Busquin unveiled Europe's vision to become
a global leader in the field of aeronautics while serving society's
needs. The report on "European
Aeronautics: A Vision for 2020" was prepared by a group
of aeronautics personalities and its recommendations were welcomed
by the industry, research and media community as an important first
step in the right direction.
The "Vision 2020" report stressed
Europe's need for a high level Advisory Council who would develop
and implement a strategic approach to European aeronautics research.
Only five months later, the new committee is ready to begin its
work.

sector during a media cocktail with key European Commission representatives
and members of the ACARE group. Interviews can be arranged on request.
Media representatives interested in the
