Coordination of Research Activities Objectives The objective of Community actions in this field is to help structure the European Research Area. ACTIONS
1. ERA-NET The objective of the ERA-NET scheme is to develop and strengthen the coordination of national and regional research programmes through two specific actions: In this minisite you will find over 100 ERA-NET projects (with fact sheets and publishable summaries where available) which can be selected by keyword/domain and framework programme (FP6 and FP7), as well as the testimonials of several key people involved in ERA-NET. 2. Article 185 Initiatives Here, the Community will participate in programmes implemented jointly by several Member States on the basis of Article 185 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) [ex Article 169 of the Treaty establishing the European Community (TEC)]. This is especially relevant to European cooperation on a large scale in "variable geometry" between Member States showing overlapping interests and commitments. In well identified cases, such Article 185 initiatives will be launched in areas identified in close association with the Member States, including the possible cooperation with intergovernmental programmes, on the basis of the criteria defined in the Seventh Framework Programme decision... read more about Article 185 on CORDIS Public research programmes only correspond to some 50% of research activities undertaken in the European Union. 3. Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) Framework Programme 7 will also support initiatives aiming at integrating private and public research efforts. For a very limited number of European Technology Platforms, the scope and ambition of their strategic research agendas and the resources involved justify setting up long-term public private partnerships in the form of Joint Technology Initiatives Useful links |
