Q: Why is some funding for collaborative grants in the fields of Security and Space going to the Research Executive Agency?
A: While collaborative funding typically has more policy orientation than the Marie-Curie and SME actions, it has been decided that parts of the research can be transferred to the agency - the more policy related areas remaining in the Commission. Both Space and Security are new areas within the Framework Programme, and there is a limited amount of in-house expertise in these areas. As such, it was seen to be opportune to transfer limited parts of these themes. Their implementation will also act as a pilot for the implementation of collaborative projects in an agency setting.
