Q: Do the EAGs have a role in selecting projects to be funded?
A: No, the EAGs have no role in the day-to-day management of the specific programmes of FP5. This is a task for the Commission, assisted for certain decisions by the programme committees, which are composed of Member State representatives. Inasmuch as they advise the Commission on the direction of the key actions and the content of the work programmes, the EAGs have a certain influence on the work to be carried out, but the Commission takes the utmost care to ensure that EAG members do not stand to benefit directly from the advice that they are called upon to give.
