Q: Proposal "Form A1": we tried to define the status of a participant organisation, however, there is only a choice of 4 categories: non-profit organisation, public body, research organisation and higher, secondary education establishment. Which category do we need to select for our SME and industry partners? What do research organisations have to fill in here?
A: For statistical purposes, applicants are indeed required to complete all these questions. Identificatioof SMEs is elaborated in Proposal "form A1". The full definition of an SME does involve further considerations, including whether or not you carry out an economic activity, and the nature of any links you have with other entities. If you know you are an SME you simply answer YES or NO if it's not the case. Standard definition of the SME is included in Commission Recommendation of 6 May 2003 (JO L 124 of 20.05.2003).
