Events Launching FP7 The European Commission will host the "Launching FP7 Conference for Information Multipliers", the aim of
which is to provide participants with complete first-hand information
and a series of communication tools regarding the Seventh
Framework Programme. These communication tools have been -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today is the Future On 7 March 2007 German Chancellor Merkel, Commission President Barroso, Commissioner Potocnik and German Federal Minister Schavan will celebrate the launch of FP7, together with 500 scientific and political invitees. The event takes place on the eve of the 2007 European Spring Council. This is no coincidence. Research's central role in creating and maintaining a competitive and sustainable Europe is undisputed. This is a strong signal about the importance the EU puts on research and this is why the event is organised in conjunction with the traditional " Lisbon" European Council. At the same time, two exhibitions will be open to the public free of charge:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FP7 Press Briefing The aim of the technical briefing is to present the key objectives of FP7, explain what has changed compared to the previous Framework Programmes and address how European research can boost Europe's growth and competitiveness. The Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development is nearing the end of its adoption process, and should start in early 2007. It is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007 to 2013. The programme will have a total budget over the seven years of €54 billion in current prices.
