“To improve the impact assessment of agricultural policy in the EU-25.” |
| |
The problem
The CAPRI (Common Agricultural Policy Regional Impact assessment) modelling system is used to assess the impacts of agricultural policy within the European Union (EU). However, the eastward expansion of the EU, along with the challenges posed by climate change, limited energy resources and rural employment, mean that the CAPRI modelling system is in need of updating and expansion.

| CAPRI‑DynaSpat |
Predicting the impacts of agricultural policy, dynamically and spatially |
|
Overview:CAPRI-DynaSpat will build upon the existing CAPRI modelling system to provide an improved tool, including the dynamic and spatial dimensions, for assessing policy impacts in the EU-25. The project will: - Regularly update the CAPRI database and carry out reference runs
- Improve the model’s economic core with the addition of a dynamic market module
- Develop an employment module
- Develop indicators for agricultural energy use and a model for greenhouse gas emissions
- Develop a GIS (geographic information systems) link for spatial analysis of the CAPRI database
- Fully integrate Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic into the CAPRI network
Contribution to policy development:CAPRI DynaSpat will provide: - A reliable tool for assessing the impact of CAP measures on a regional scale
- An improved graphical interface for the CAPRI system
- Improved simulation models for impacts of policy scenarios
- Support for rational policy design in the future
