New Instruments

The Sixth Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2002-2006) includes two new instruments which will be used, where deemed appropriate, as priority means of carrying out activities in the priority thematic areas with the objective of integrating European research. These instruments are: integrated projects and networks of excellence, and detailed information on them can be found in the following background documents:

You can also read a general introduction covering all the instruments (PDF - 90 kB - edition of 15 July 2003) for implementing the Sixth Framework Programme's priority themes.

Participation of SMEs in FP6, and the new instruments in particular, is of the highest importance. (A working document describing measures to support this participation is available on the SME Techweb site)
