Access to the Public Consultation
The European Commission invites citizens and other stakeholders to contribute to the development of the European Research Area (ERA) by participating in our online ERA consultation. The consultation takes the form of a questionnaire, the contents of which reflect and expand upon the questions and issues raised in the Green Paper "The European Research Area: New Perspectives".
The results of the online consultation will be used by the Commission, in conjunction with other inputs, to support proposals for the future development of ERA. These proposals will be published in 2008.
The public consultation was launched on 1 May 2007 and will be open until
31 August 2007.
Please bear in mind the following guidelines when submitting your comments:
- There are eight sections in the questionnaire. The first collects information about you or the organisation on whose behalf you are replying. The second invites your opinion on the ERA concept in general. Completion of these two sections is mandatory. The remaining six sections correspond to each of the main ERA dimensions developed in the Green Paper. You may feel free to complete as many or as few of these as you wish, depending on your areas of expertise and interest.
- Please be aware that you have a maximum of 90 minutes to provide your answer on each section of the questionnaire. With this in mind, you may find it helpful to print the blank questionnaire and elaborate your reply off-line. You can download the questionnaire either in MS Word or Acrobat formats.
- In order to submit your responses, select the right-most tab (END) from which you will be able to both provide comments on the questionnaire in general and submit your response. After you click on "submit" to send your responses, you will see a confirmation page stating that your reply has been recorded. If this is not the case, and if the survey page is re-loaded instead, please check that you have filled in correctly all compulsory questions, and/or that you have not exceeded the maximum number of characters for free text questions. In this case, an error message appears next to the question for which something is wrong or missing. The responses and other parts you have provided or completed correctly will not be lost in the event of a page re-load
- If you do not wish personally identifying data (your name or organisation name) to be made public in association with excerpts of your response, please tick the corresponding box in the questionnaire.
Please be aware that your personal data will be collected and processed solely for statistical purposes. Please refer to the Privacy Statement to learn more.
We strongly urge you to reply to the public consultation by means of this questionnaire, which will ensure that your views are best taken into account in the debate and preparation of future initiatives. However if you would prefer, you may do so by sending us an e-mail or a letter to the following address.
