Dr. Anna Sjöström Douagi is the director of the Young Academy of Sweden, which was founded onan initiative by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Sjöström Douagi was appointed to start the Young Academy of Sweden in 2010, which was inaugurated in May 2011 and now consists of 22 of the mosttalentedyoung researchers in Sweden.The Young Academy of Sweden is an interdisciplinary forum and a science policy platform for young researchers within all scientificfields.

Before starting the Young Academy of Sweden, Dr. Sjöström Douagi, pursued a careerwithin the Swedish Research Council. In that capacity, she led the Swedish participation in the European Young Investigators Awards (EURYI), an initaiative by the European Science Foundation (ESF) and the EUROHORCs.

She was also part of the EUROHORCs secretariat, when Sweden held the presidency 2007-2008, participated in several Europeannet works which dealt with research career and mobility issues andran a programme linking researchers in Sweden with researchers in developing countries.

Dr. Sjöström Douagi became the National Contact Point (NCP) in Sweden for the European Research Council (ERC), when it started in 2007until 2010. Dr. Sjöström Douagi gainedher PhD in Immunology in 2002 from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
