Euratom Nuclear Research - Who are we

Who are we

We are the ‘Energy (Euratom) Directorate’ of the European Commission's Directorate-General (DG) for Research. Euratom research is responsible for research in nuclear energy. This means that we manage the Euratom Framework Programme in both fusion and fission, and formulate related policy and strategy.

Led by Director Octavio Quintana Trias, the Euratom Directorate has five Units which are responsible for areas like: fission, ITER, Fusion Association agreements, finance and administration and horizontal aspects. The Directorate pools together a team of people with a wide range of backgrounds.

The goal of this website is to provide information about the objectives, activities and policies of the European Commission on EU research on nuclear energy. It aims to promote greater awareness and understanding about all aspects of EU energy research.
