Second-Generation Automotive Biofuels, International Conference in Sweden, SYNBIOS

Stockholm, Sweden, 18-20 May 2005

SYNBIOS is an international conference on automotive biofuels production by thermal gasification of biomass. Several studies have shown that thermal gasification is the most energy- and cost-effective way of producing automotive biofuels, the most promising of which are H2, BTL, DME and methanol. The event is intended for those who are interested in creating a sustainable transport sector and aims to bring together leading scientists, researchers, engineers, politicians and decision-makers from the industry, governments and authorities.

20th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition

Barcelona, Spain, 6-10 June 2005

The next European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition will be held at the International Convention Centre in Barcelona. Both researchers and representatives from the PV solar industry will meet to discuss the latest developments in industry and science worldwide.

First International Biorefinery Workshop

Washington, USA, 20-21 July 2005

The United States Department of Energy and the European Commission's Research Directorate-General will jointly organise the first International Biorefinery Workshop. The aim is to provide an international technical review of biorefinery R&D. The main objectives are disseminating information on current R&D activities, evaluating R&D needs, identifying challenges and opportunities as well as fostering strategic partnerships in the field of biorefinery.

6th European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference and Exhibition

Glasgow, UK, 30 August – 2 September 2005

This conference offers the opportunity for those interested in wave and tidal energy to keep pace with the latest developments, and to interact and exchange ideas with researchers, inventors and industrialists. The event is a major showcase for both European research and demonstration activities, and cutting edge research from outside Europe will also be presented. A major exhibition will take place at the conference venue, and a pre-conference workshop on experiences of deploying ocean energy devices will be organised through the EU funded Coordinated Action on Ocean Energy, CA-OE, on 29th August.
