Abstract: NANOSTIR represents a completely new and highly innovative, alternative polygeneration energy system. It does combine a solid biofuel boiler, a small power range Stirling engine and an absorption cooling machine to a concise and highly potential energy provision system. NANOSTIR significantly reduces former problems of Stirling engines with soiling and slagging of the primary heat exchanger by using solid biofuels by means of the applied nanotechnological coating material.

Abstract: The project is aimed at demonstrating the market potential of a new microCHP system in real domestic-size polygeneration applications. The Exheat microCHP system is based on the close integration of a boiler with an externally heated microturbine. The system delivers approximately 5 kW of electrical power and 15kW heating.

Abstract: Energy storage is recognised as a key element for energy networks in the near future. The main objective of this project is to develop a new generation high energy supercapacitor based system (HESCAP system), capable of storing ten times more energy than the reported State of the Art SC technology, but keeping the high power density, long life cycle and total capital cost of currently available supercapacitors.

Abstract: Economic and sustainable production of fuels, chemicals and materials from biomass requires capturing the maximum energy and monetary value from sustainable feedstock. SUPRA-BIO achieves this by focussing on innovative research and development of critical unit operations, by using process intensification to match economic production to the scale of available feedstock and by process integration that provides energy from process waste, optimises utilities to minimise environmental impact and maximises value from the product mix.

Abstract: The Wave Dragon is a slack-moored wave energy converter of the overtopping type. It is by far the most powerful wave energy converter and at the same time one of the most energy efficient and economic devices under development today. The project will develop the Wave Dragon technology further from the tested all steel built 20 kW prototype to a full size composite built 7 MW unit and by testing validate the technical and economic feasibility.

CO2ReMoVe is a consortium of industrial, research and service organizations with experience in CO2 geolog ical storage. The consortium proposes a range of monitoring techniques, applied over an integrated portfolio of storage sites (including natural analogues).

Abstract: The main objective is to prepare the ground for large scale European facilities producing hydrogen and electricity from fossil fuels with CO2 capture and geological storage. DYNAMIS is designed as an element of the HYPOGEN project which includes as an interim step the construction of a large-scale facility for the production of hydrogen and electricity from decarbonised fossil fuels with CO2 storage. DYNAMIS is the first step on that route, designed to rank the options and to reduce the risk in development of a fullscale pilot plant post-2008.
