CREDO
cluster |
In
2001, the two FP5 thematic programmes covering research
on endocrine disruption (the Quality
of life programme and the Energy,
environment and sustainable development programme),
as a direct response to the call in the European
Commission's Communication [COM(1999)706 Final,
PDF file - 167Kb] to enhance research efforts, launched
a joint call focused on endocrine disrupters, culminating
in the formation of the CREDO
cluster (the cluster of research into endocrine
disruption in Europe), which was formally launched
in March 2003. The cluster consists of four projects
(EDEN,
FIRE, EURISKED,
and COMPRENDO) encompassing 63 laboratories
in Europe and with a total budget of approximately
20 million euros for up to four years (until 2006).
The EDEN
project co-ordinates the cluster. It will provide
manpower to carry out activities such as supervising
the implementation of cluster workshops, and be in
charge of the dissemination of results and publicity.
Cluster
activities include:
- annual cluster meetings and workshops to
exchange of scientific know-how, results and
expertise (open to outside participation)
- exchange of research data and research
plans in areas of overlapping interest areas
through visits by scientific and/or technical
staff of partner institutes
- co-ordination of sampling programmes and
databases
- common dissemination strategy through
- representation of ED research priorities
at relevant EU policy meetings
For more information, visit the
cluster webpage or contact the
cluster co-ordinator. |
In addition to the four partners listed above, seven
other projects, dealing with endocrine disruption,
have been loosely associated to the cluster. Their
role has been to participate in the three workshops
organised by the CREDO cluster.
