The Commission proposal for Horizon 2020 foresees that the priority "societal challenges" is also implemented through public-private partnerships (PPPs). Selection of PPPs will be based on a set of clearly defined criteria, including the added value of action at Union level, the scale of impact on industrial competitiveness, sustainable growth and socio-economic issues, and the long-term commitment from all partners based on a shared vision and clearly defined objectives.
The present consultation seeks key views relating to the launch of a PPP in the life sciences research area under Horizon 2020 and what areas should be addressed. The planned PPP would implement part of the "health, demographic change and wellbeing" challenge.
