Rolf Annerberg is Director General of the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas). He holds a Master of Political Science from the University of Stockholm. Mr Rolf Annerberg has had a distinguished career in Sweden as well as internationally. He has been State Secretary for Energy 1984-86, for Energy and Environment 1987-90 and for Energy and State-owned enterprises in the Ministry of Industry 1990-91. He has been Director General of the Swedish Environmental protection Agency 1991-1999 and Chairman of the Board for MISTRA (Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research). Internationally he has in the EU served as Head of Cabinet of Ms. Margot Wallstrom, European Commissioner responsible for the Environment (1999-2004) continuing in the period 2004-2007 as Head of Cabinet for Ms. Wallstrom during her period as Vice President and European Commissioner responsible for Communication and Inter-institutional relations. He has also served in several other international functions e.g. in the OECD.
