Carlos Martinez Alonso

Carlos Martínez Alonso holds a PhD in Chemical Sciences and has devoted more than 30 years to research, management, entrepreneurship and popularization of science. After holding research positions in several international centers of excellence, he became Professor of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, CSIC, where he set up the Department of Immunology and Oncology. Being prized several times for his breakthroughs, he was appointed Chair of CSIC in 2004 and Secretary of State for Research in 2008.
