Björn von Sydow
Björn von Sydow is the Chairman of the Swedish Research Council Board since 2007. From 2002 to 2006, he was the Speaker of the Riksdag, the Swedish parliament, Chairman of the Riksdag Board and the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs. Earlier, Bjorn von Sydow was the Minister of Defence preceded by a short term as Minister of Trade.
He has been a member of the Swedish Parliament from 1994 to present. Björn von Sydow is also Deputy Chair of the Swedish Delegation to the Council of Europe (Parliamentary Assembly), Second Deputy Chair of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly and member of the Bureau of the Socialist Parliamentarians’ Group of the Parliamentary Assembly. He has a phd in Political Science from Linkoping University, Sweden, and is associate professor of Political Science at the same university.
