Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard holds a Ph.D. in Physics. She is Deputy Director General at the Library and is responsible for the general development of digital services there. She is responsible for activities around digitalization and dissemination of cultural heritage objects and is very much into user driven innovation and development. Birte joined the Royal Library in 2008 coming from a similar position at the State and University Library. She has experience in designing IT architecture for digital libraries and preservation issues. She is a member of the national committee working on recommendations to the parliament on relevant measures to secure the electronic cultural heritage.
She is member of the steering committee for The Danish Electronic Library, is board member of the international organisation NDLTD and is member of the steering committee for Open Access adoption in Denmark. She is member of the Nordic group on promotion of (open) access to information, NORDBIB. She also is a member of the Knowledge Exchange groups on Virtual Research Environment and on Digital Libraries (Knowledge Exchange is a collaboration between JISC (UK), SURF (Holland), DFG (Germany) and DEFF (DENMARK).
