Conference Perspectives for FOOD 2030

On 17-18 April 2007 the Directorate-General for Research of the European Commission organised a major Conference on the future research and competitiveness aspects of the European food industry, in Brussels (Charlemagne building), Belgium

Conference "Perspectives for FOOD 2030"

What will the consumer want on his plate?

How will the supermarket of the future look?

Which technologies will emerge?

These important questions had been addressed during the Conference which aims at debating policy and industry development and anticipating research needs.

The Conference was divided into four main sessions: Trends and Outlook in World Economics, Culture and Food; Drivers of Food demand and of the Market Today and Tomorrow; New Technologies for Food Production; Future Perceptions of Food. Commissioner Potočnikfor Science and Research and Commissioner Fischer-Boel for Agriculture and Rural Development participated in the debate.

The conference brought together major European and worldwide actors from the fields of food technology, retail, consumer science/behaviour, economy, etc. to gather visions of the future.

The conference offered simultaneous translation in English, French, German, Polish, Spanish and Italian.
