CONFERENCE - THE EUROPE OF KNOWLEDGE 2020 - 25-28 April 2004 | Liège Convention Centre, Belgium

Parallel session 7
Enhancing internationally competitive research in Europe’s universities

Tuesday 27 April, 14:30-17:30

The aspiration to become the “world’s leading knowledge economy” is a vital aim if Europe is to be an intellectual, economic and cultural leader through the coming century. World-leading basic research and a cohort of world-class researchers are necessary components of such a development, which must be associated with efficient mechanisms for knowledge transfer. Universities have an important role to play in these processes.
