Parallel session 6
Universities driving regional development
Tuesday 27 April, 9:45-12:45
Universities make a major contribution to the development
of the regions in which they are located, particularly as
Europe’s regions move towards the knowledge economy.
Universities can provide their expertise in a number of
scientific fields; they can offer advanced training, give
advice to local companies, and strengthen the economy of
the region by contributing to the development of spin-offs.
This session considered current practice
in universities’ regional activities and examined
how universities can become motors of regional development.
