A changing environment and new demands for research training

Being a researcher opens up a variety of career choices in a number of countries, emphasises a Communication published by the Commission in July 2003. In order to exploit these choices fully, researchers must be given the chance to acquire a range of additional skills needed on the labour market. This session explored professional career development at universities and the benefits of innovative European masters’ and doctoral programmes for the quality of research training.
