Description of the activities presented on the stand

The stand of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture presents information on the SOCRATES/Erasmus and LEONARDO DA VINCI programmes, including demonstration of pilot projects.

All European Summits since Lisbon 2000 have underlined the contribution of education to the setting up of the "Europe of Knowledge".

The SOCRATES/Erasmus programme implements action specifically focused on Higher Education, which includes support for the mobility of teachers and students, notably through exchanges. Higher Education institutions are also able to take part in a wide range of other programmes, including the RTD Framework Programme.

For further information, visit http://ec.europa.eu/education/higher.html

The LEONARDO DA VINCI programme (open to a broad spectrum of participants, from university research students to the unemployed and the socially disadvantaged) makes specific provision for valorisation activities, defined as the process of enhancing or optimising project outcomes through experimentation and exploitation with a view to increasing their value and impact. The ultimate aim is to transfer promising project results into educational and vocational training systems and practices throughout the countries participating in the programme. For further information, visit:
