Gate2Growth.com is a gateway to networks of financiers, company growth experts and service providers. It represents a leading pan-European initiative to support innovative entrepreneurs in accessing private sources of innovation finance, backed by the European Commission through its Innovation and SMEs Programme.

Gate2Growth.com is also a pan-European database of investment opportunities, where business plans can be listed and which is used by active investors in Europe.

Electronic and print publications play a key role in the spread of information and ideas – both among established research and innovation actors, and to new players and the wider public. As such, they form an essential element of the European Research and Innovation Area’s nervous system.

Innovation Relay Centres support innovation and transnational technological co-operation with a range of specialised business support services. IRC services are primarily targeted at technology-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises, but are also available to large companies, research institutes, universities, technology centres and innovation agencies.

In the past five years the IRCs have assisted over 5,000 technology transfer negotiations, and have helped 65,000 client companies to meet their technology needs and to exploit their research results.

The network of Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) is the platform where regions active in the development of regional innovation policies can exchange experience and access good practice.
Member regions bring together public authorities, large and small companies, universities and research centres, and investors, to identify gaps in their present support for innovation and focus public and private sector resources on priority needs. With over 150 member regions, the network spreads across 30 European countries.

1.The "European Trend Chart on Innovation" provides a platform for the exchange of good practices in innovation policy across Europe. Presented are country reports, measures on national innovation policy and details of the benchmarking workshop on "Innovation policy in candidate countries" of June 2002.

2.Innovation policy studies: Presented are two studies "Innovation policy in six Candidate Countries" and preliminary findings of a follow-up study, "Innovation policy in seven Candidate Countries", which provide analytical overviews of the state-of-play of innovation in Candidate Countries.

The regional innovation strategies launched in Central and Eastern Europe will fast-track the development of innovation systems, using mentoring support from Member State regions who have been previously through the process.

Part of the global IRE network, the PARTNER network helps the members to develop, promote and exchange experience through a series of technical workshops and seminars. PARTNER seeks to support an innovation culture in the candidate countries and develop opportunities for inter-regional collaborations.
