RegioStar Awards to highlight Bioeconomy projects
Each year the European Commission organises the RegioStars Awards to identify original and innovative projects that promote regional development and EU cohesion. For 2014 the awards include a new category on ‘Sustainable Growth: Green growth and jobs through Bioeconomy’. In this category a wide range of bioeconomy related activities are eligible, for example: projects dealing with waste reduction and low-carbon technologies; logistical solutions for developing biomass and biofuel sectors; bio-based solutions for food packaging; and programmes to build the skills and jobs the bioeconomy needs, among many others.
The RegioStar Awards offer an excellent opportunity to bring visibility to bio-economy projects, and to emphasise the importance of bioeconomy research and innovation cooperation and partnering at a regional and inter-regional level.
The application process is now open. The deadline for applications is 19 April 2013. More information on the award, including application forms and examples of past winners, can be found here.
