Prague hosts RAFA food analysis symposium
The sixth international symposium on recent advances in food analysis (RAFA) will be held in Prague on 5-8 November 2013. Keynote speakers include JRC Director Elke Anklam, who will open the meeting and launch a workshop on opportunities for young scientists in EU research.
Highlight topics for the meeting include the ‘horsemeat scandal’; foodomics; and recent trends in molecular biology relevant to food science – including nanoparticles, bio-analytical methods and food allergens.
EU Bioeconomy projects are well represented at the meeting. They include PROMISE (research collaboration between old and new Member states), FOODSEG (food safety research dissemination), NANOLYSE (nanoparticles in food and beverages), QSAFFE (safer livestock feeds), BIOPARTNERS (R&D cooperation with Georgia), and NANODEFINE (methods for defining nanomaterials).
RAFA 2013 offers a balanced programme, with many top quality presentations followed by stimulating discussions, several satellite events and a large state-of-the-art exhibition.
The symposium will be held in the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague, the Czech Republic, on 5-8 November.
