FACCE-JPI three-year anniversary meeting

The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) will hold its 3-year anniversary meeting on 22 October in Paris. The meeting takes ‘achievements and perspectives’ as its theme.

The Chair of FACCE-JPI, Marion Guillou, will welcome the participants, followed by several keynote addresses. Among the invited speakers is the French Minister of Higher Education and Research, Geneviève Fioraso, who will speak on the role of Member States in the European Research Area (ERA). Dominique Ristori, Director-General of the Joint Research Centre, will look at the role of science in agriculture, food security and climate change. Synergies between the Joint Programming process and Horizon 2020 will also be addressed.

In a roundtable discussion, participants can contribute to issues such as the ‘knowledge hub concept’ and ‘engaging the international research community, stakeholders and emerging countries’, and hear examples of successful cooperation between the JPI and ERA-NET initiatives. Niels Gøtke, Vice-Chair of FACCE, will close the meeting with a forward-looking presentation on the implementation plan for 2014-2015.

Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) help Member States to coordinate national research activities, group resources, benefit from complementarities and develop common research agendas so as to tackle grand societal challenges that cannot be solved solely at national level.

The FACCE-JPI Governing Board Meeting will take place on 22 October 2013 at the INRA Headquarters, 147 rue de l’Université, 75007 Paris
