SCAR - National Research Systems - Slovenia
The Slovene agricultural research system /public sector/

Agricultural research in Slovenia should be considered in its broader sense, since it is focusing on sustainable agricultural production, food quality and safety, rural development, agricultural policy, landscape management, forestry and fisheries.

The field of research activities falls within the competence of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Research activities in the Republic of Slovenia are almost entirely financed from public resources. In addition to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology as a responsible Ministry, in the implementation of National Research and Development Programme (applicative and development research programme) also other Ministries are involved, in accordance with their activities and strategic orientations. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food participates in the research in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
