National Programmes

Many agricultural challenges are not confined by national boundaries and are truly regional from an environmental and climatic perspective. A co-ordinated agricultural research effort within the ERA should therefore work within the context of agro-ecological or agro-economic zones. The opening of national programmes to researchers from other countries is intrinsic to the overall success of any proposed ERA.
