Video showcasing the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The Baltic Sea Region faces several types of problems relating to the environment, access, the mobility of people and goods, economic isolation, and security. Faced with this situation, the countries involved appealed to the European Commission, asking it to devise a long-term strategy for the region’s future development. The result was the European Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The strategy centres around four main themes: preserving the environment; developing the region’s economy courtesy of exchanges between the various countries; enhanced accessibility and appeal; and tighter security.
