On March 31st, the Regiostars awards will honour 19 finalists, divided in 4 categories, and choose as winners the most inspirational and innovative EU-funded projects across the Member States.

    Like the rest of Italy, the Marche region has been affected by the international financial crisis. The footwear sector, a traditionally handcrafted activity which accounts for over 50% of exports, has been particularly hard-hit.

    It was therefore necessary to come up with a Smart Specialisation strategy to modernise equipment and re-stimulate growth and strengthen employment. Innovations such as the automation of the production chain, or developing health and wellbeing products, or offering shoes made to measure thanks to 3D scanners are some of the solutions offered by Smart Specialisation.

The University of Bologna’s centre for food and agro-industrial research is based in Cesena. Part-financed by the EU, it helps local businesses and food growers to improve their products and boost exports, through research, advice and cooperation.

    RegioStars 2008 : Hy Sy Vision project

    02/01/2008This video showcases the Hy Sy Vision project, which focuses on the development of applications using hydrogen energy. Coordinated by Environment Park, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Piedmont region, the project ultimately should enable the creation of a fully-fledged regional economic centre for hydrogen.
