Guidelines for innovative actions funded by the European Regional Development Fund in 2000-2006

On 31 January 2001 the European Commission adopted its guidelines for innovative actions to be funded by the European Regional Development Fund in 2000-06.

The guidelines focus on the following three strategic themes:

• regional economies based on knowledge and technological innovation;
  
• e-Europe: the information society at the service of regional development;
  
• regional identity and sustainable development.

The budget for innovative actions in 2000-06 will be about €400 million (0.4% of the budget of the European Regional Development Fund)
