Ex post evaluation of Cohesion Fund including former ISPA

Discussion with Member States of preliminary findings, work packages B and C

3rd February 2011

The Evaluation Unit of DG REGIO is currently carrying out the ex post evaluation of the Cohesion Fund (including former ISPA) allocated in the 2000-2006 period. This includes two specific contracts, being undertaken by Frontier Economics (UK) and COWI (DK) which have carried out ex post cost benefit analysis of 10 transport and 10 environmental projects.

As the evaluation approaches its final stage, the Evaluation Unit organised a workshop for project leaders and Member State authorities with contributions from the consultants. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the preliminary findings of the cost benefit analyses of the projects and to help drafting the final reports for both work packages, due in spring 2011.

Directorate General for Regional Policy appreciates the contrubutions made at the seminar. The event was a good opportunity to foster exchanging information and opinions, and discussion about the evaluations among Member States, experts, and the Commission as a facilitator. We particularly welcome the opportunity for project managers to share their practical experience on the subject.
