In the framework of the 'European Week of Regions and Cities', each regional partnership is invited to organize a local event under the title 'Europe in my region/city', in the format of a citizens' dialogue, between September and December 2017, and including a member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). The objective of these citizens' dialogues is to listen and report back directly from the discussions taking place in cities and regions.
The citizens' dialogues are an integral part of 'Reflecting on Europe', an initiative of the CoR offering a space for citizens to present their concerns, thoughts and ideas about the future of Europe, which will feed into an opinion on 'Reflecting on Europe: the voice of regional authorities to rebuild trust in the European Union' in spring 2018; thus enabling real inputs from regions and cities to the political process.
The local events are inclusive and open. They target, amongst others, young people and students, local politicians and local government associations, SMEs business representatives, university and academic representatives, local and national media, to raise awareness of the impact of EU policies in regions and cities.
In 2017, 29 local events will take place around Europe within the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities.
