Valle d'Aosta - ESF

Programme description

Valle d’Aosta is using ESF funding to target education, social inclusion and employment as drivers for future growth.

The ESF operational programme (OP) for Valle d’Aosta in Italy will help the region achieve key EU and national development priorities. The OP has an overall budget of EUR 55 million which will be invested in education, social inclusion and employment initiatives.

The Valle d’Aosta operational programme has three main priorities:

  • Some 40% of ESF spending will support the long-term unemployed, immigrants, women and young people. A series of measures targeting training, skills and qualifications will be accompanied by efforts to modernise the region’s employment services – and thus better serve the job-seeking public.
  • Social inclusion measures will benefit from around 20% of the budget. These will promote social inclusion and equality – in particular equality in access to public services and jobs. The most disadvantaged groups and people with disabilities are among the main targets.
  • Education will receive about 35% of ESF resources. There will be projects to reduce and prevent school drop-outs and encourage young people to get relevant qualifications. For older jobseekers and workers, training programmes will help them upgrade their skills and maintain or improve their employability.

In addition, the ESF will invest in measures to improve the institutional capacity of the region, helped by the provision of technical, expert assistance. Gender equality and work-life balance projects will also be supported.
