Pyrenees Mediterranean Euroregion sponsors European CreaMed project to stimulate start-ups
(19 April 2011)
The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion has introduced the CreaMed project to support business networks and incubators in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion (Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Midi-Pyrenees and Languedoc-Roussillon).
‘The data shows that companies are 20 to 30% more likely to survive if they develop as clusters’, states Antònia Sabartes, Secretary General of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion.
A grant of €1.1 million has been extended to the project by territorial cooperation program INTERREG IVB SUDOE. Project partners are the Generalitat of Catalonia Labour Department, Balearic Islands ParcBit Technology Centre, the Languedoc-Roussillon Synersud Network and the Midi-Pyrenees Business Incubator Network.
An innovative instrument mobilised in a project area
‘The CreaMed project shows that our EGTC is able to motivate leaders in the Euroregion to become involved in making a direct local contribution to EU2020 strategy’ concludes Philippe Mestre, Director of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean EGTC.
