Commissioner Hahn signals huge progress on Greece's use of Structural funds, 'but more work still to be done'
Commissioner Johannes Hahn and Greek Minister for Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure and Transport Kostis Hatzidakis met in Brussels today to review Greece's implementation of EU Structural and Cohesion Funds. Commissioner Hahn praised efforts so far saying “I am deeply impressed at Greece's ability to submit payment claims of up to 3.2 billion EUR which covers 87% of the target set for this last year under the Memorandum of Understanding. This is a huge success which I very much appreciate”. Minister Hatzidakis pledged that the Greek government, besides effectively implementing regional funds, would also continue in their effort to fulfill the objectives set by the European Commission in terms of priority projects and SMEs to stimulate the economy.
