Transport projects supported by Cohesion Fund & ISPA delivered value for money
In September the Directorate General for Regional Policy published an ex post cost-benefit analysis of ten selected transport projects co-financed by the Cohesion Fund and ISPA during 2000-2006. It was an innovative evaluation to test the ex post cost benefit analysis as a method for capturing wider transport project benefits. In terms of impacts, all ten projects delivered value for money and the Cohesion Fund contribution was needed to unlock the economic benefits of these projects. Other benefits for the citizens were identified: travel time savings, vehicle operating costs, safety improvements, carbon emission, air and noise reduction, etc. The final report reveals interesting conclusions and insights for the future.
