Project description

"Dow Wolff Cellulosics" (DWC) is fully owned by "Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft mbH" which itself belongs to "The Dow Chemical Company". The main activity of DWC is the production of methylcellulose which is an additive for different industrial applications. It is used in cosmetics and chemical products, certain food products, and for products used in the construction industry. The project will see the construction of an additional production facility on the Bitterfeld/Wolfen site, doubling the current capacity of 17 000 tons/year, and the extension of the cellulose stocking facility. The project investment will directly create 18 new jobs (and 8 traineeships) and contribute to the creation of a further 150 jobs indirectly in the region.

What are the project likely benefits?

The project will create new jobs, both directly and indirectly. It will also enhance the competitiveness of the region through this investment into export-oriented industries, given it is a product which is marketed globally.
