New manufacturing plant for lubricating motor oils generates 26 jobs in Lubmin
The new premises enable year-round value creation and bring a most welcome boost to the local industry, thereby contributing to rural development in Western Pomerania-Greifswald. Making use of the regions’ access to the Baltic Sea, Deutsche Ölwerke Lubmin GmbH is aiming to produce large quantities of highest-standard motor oils.
" Out motivated and skilled employees will ultimately be the competitive advantage in providing customer satisfaction along with highest product quality in the lubrication products sourced from Lubmin. "
In a region highly dependent on tourism and seasonal agriculture, the stable, year-round jobs are particularly attractive. The region will also benefit from side effects, such as increased demand for transport in order to ship the products to their destinations.
In one of the most modern plants in Germany, the company manufactures, stores, packages and distributes motor and lubrication oils. Around 40 000 tonnes of lubricants per year are to be produced in Lubmin and distributed nationally and internationally.
In addition to latest design and equipment technology, Deutsche Ölwerke Lubmin GmbH can also draw on 75 years of relevant branch experience in associated companies for the product and market knowledge necessary to support the various manufacturing processes. The factory further benefits from the local industrial harbour and efficient rail- and road connections which allow delivery of primary oils by a variety of transport modes and thereby guarantee an effective use of the on-site storage capacity, and from the proximity of new markets in Eastern Europe.
High-quality affordable products
The factory’s business model is based on the production of high-volume, competitively priced lubrication oils which conform to highest quality standard. Nearly EUR 1 million was invested in a quality check laboratory and accreditation for standard industry norms is planned. This will allow lubrication oils to be shipped directly to the factory assembly lines of automotive manufacturers.
In the first phase, the Project generated 26 new jobs. A subsequent investment is expected to create a minimum of an additional four new permanent jobs.
Total investment and EU funding
Total investment for the project “Deutsche Ölwerke Lubmin GmbH” is EUR 17 138 453 with the EU’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) contributing EUR 3 520 400 through the “Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” Operational Programme for the 2007-2013 programming period.
