EMMA Creative Centre Pforzheim: a central platform for the local creative economy
A section of the former Emma Jaeger baths, a protected heritage monument, has been transformed into the EMMA Creative Centre. Within 3 000 m2 of furnished and unfurnished studios, workshops in jewellery, fashion and industrial design, meeting rooms and exhibition space are all on offer at reasonable rates.
" We are very happy that, with support from the EU and the state of Baden-Württemberg, through the establishment of the EMMA Creative Centre a visible platform for the creative economy has been created for the public in Pforzheim. EMMA is accepted by the creative community in Pforzheim and has evolved in a very short time into a lively place for working and networking. "
The aim of the project is the strengthening of the creative economy in Pforzheim and the creation and safeguarding of jobs. The EMMA Creative Centre is intended to become a central platform for Pforzheim's creative economy and a lively place for creative working and networking. It is targeted at start-ups and young entrepreneurs in the creative sector to support them during the early stages of their careers.
Pforzheim has a long tradition in design and boasts one of Germany's outstanding colleges, in particular its faculty of design. The Pforzheim goldsmith school is also an excellent training institution in the field of jewellery. The central support services and excellent starting conditions convince students at an early stage to stay in Pforzheim after finishing their examinations and to move into self-employment.
Synergies between tenants
Within the Creative Centre synergies are created between tenants working in various areas, which lead to new business contacts or joint projects. In addition, events for the creative economy as well as seminars, workshops and deliberations on subjects such as business foundation also take place at EMMA.
The EMMA Creative Centre offers modern infrastructure with local and wireless local area network throughout the building and contemporary technical amenities. The Creative Centre was accessible in summer 2014 before the official opening celebrations were held from 9-12 October 2014.
