The joint project, 85 % of which is being funded by the ERDF, will replace old lamps across the municipalities’ roads with new, modern and energy-efficient LED lights. This alone will lead to substantial energy savings of up to 63 % compared to the traditional lighting system.

In addition, the project will implement an innovative control system to allow for lower light intensity when there is less traffic which will save an extra 15 % in energy use compared to the current system.

The project aims to successfully replace all 647 lights before the end of this year.
