The European Commission has approved the decision to allocate 41 million euros from the Cohesion Fund to the purchase of 130 electric buses for the Polish capital's transport system. Each bus will be adapted for people with reduced mobility and fitted with an air conditioning system and audiovisual information devices for passengers.

"This new investment from Europe will very concretely improve the quality of life in Warsaw", commented the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Crețu. "It will reduce vehicle congestion, help purify the air and provide residents of Warsaw with a clean, fast and comfortable means of transport."

The buses should be in service by early 2021.
