An ERDF-funded project will build an underground planetarium in Gdansk – the first of its kind in Poland.
The new facility – to be located in the Hewelianum Centre, the restored 19th century remains of a fort – will have to fit seamlessly into the historical nature of the building’s location.
For this reason, it will be built underground, hidden beneath a grass surface, and its front will form part of a reconstructed historical wall.
It will house a 70-seater spherical multimedia room, as well as other multifunctional rooms and exhibition spaces.
Construction is due to be completed in 2020.
