The European Investment Fund (EIF) joined forces with Liberbank in order to grant easier access to up to €300 million of loans for 2,500 small businesses.  The SME Initiative is a financial instrument jointly developed by the Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group, as part of a broader initiative to encourage Member States to double the amount of Cohesion policy funds invested through financial instruments, in line with the objectives of the Investment Plan for Europe
