The European Commission approved a major project worth €149.6 million, with €66.1 million from the Cohesion Fund, for works on the S19 express road Lublin – Rzeszów, in the South-East of Poland.

The expressway S19 Lublin - Rzeszów is indeed part of the core TEN-T network and will improve road traffic conditions around the city of Lublin, capital city of the Lubelskie region, both in terms of safety and commuting time. In particular, it aims at improving the conditions on the existing national road No 19 which is the most important North-South communication route on the Lublin Western side.

The project comprises the construction of a 10 km-long section between nodes Lublin Sławinek and Lublin Węglin of the Lublin - Rzeszów express road S19. This dual carriageway links the country with Belarus in the North, and with Slovakia, in the South, through the cities of Białystok, Lublin and Rzeszów.
