ISA conference : interoperability, a key enabler for user-centric digital public services
The ISA² conference offers a forum for public administrations (senior policy makers as well as practitioners), the ICT community, business federations, NGOs and citizens to exchange views about upcoming trends in public sector modernisation. It will also highlight the support that the ISA² programme can offer in this respect, through operational services and solutions in the area of cross-border public services.
Interoperability is known as an enabler of a modern public sector and has been supported by the EU through a series of programmes, the last one being ISA, the predecessor of ISA².
ISA concerned the development of interoperable solutions to allow public administrations in Europe to interact with each other across borders and policy sectors. ISA² expands the scope of its predecessor, by explicitly including regional and local authorities, and providing a link to citizens and businesses. Furthermore, the programme will develop, maintain and promote a holistic approach to interoperability in the Union so as to eliminate the fragmentation of the current ‘digital service provisioning’ landscape, which constitutes a risk for accomplishing the Digital Single Market.
